Meetings - 2008
There are six regularly scheduled General Meetings each year held the fourth Saturday of January, March, May, July, September and November. The date may be changed when a holiday conflicts.
Senior members are available in the morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to assist researchers with their questions. The classes are set up to introduce and explain techniques of Polish and general genealogical research. Board Meetings are open to members only. The General Meeting features a speaker with a topic of interest. The LARFHC is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Description: Using Power Point projected images, Robert will demonstrate how he was able to discover and verify a large number of new ancestors and cousins. During the past year, Robert and Marlene traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, the Middle East, and Toronto, Canada, where they met their newly discovered relatives for the first time. The information gathered during the trip was useful in verifying the research data. Their common ancestor was born in Poland/Ukraine about 1760.

Topic: “Travel to Poland - Move over Alexis de Toqueville”
Description: What happens when a fifth generation Polish boy travels to Poland to search for his roots and ends up touring the entire country? Gary plans to share his observations of modern-day Poland. This presentation will cover Poland 2007 as seen through the eyes of an American tourist group -- some sightseeing, some of his personal family history (particularly the province of Bydgoszcz), and some of what they learned about their Polish brethren as they emerge in the European Union.
